Orvia Enterprise is the sole provider of the Intensive Business Start-up Support (ISUS) programme across Central Lancashire and the Fylde Coast. Under this programme Orvia Enterprise is in a position to offer FREE business support and advice on all aspects of setting up and running a business to anybody who wishes to start their own business. This is delivered through our range of training courses and supported by one to one advice sessions. So whether you have a fragment of an idea or a burning ambition we can help.
The Northwest ISUS programme is jointly funded by the Northwest Regional Development Agency, the European Regional Development Fund and Lancashire County Council and is part of the Government’s Solutions for Business programme.
Road to Business Day 1 – Free full day workshop
You’ve made the decision that you want to start your business but you don’t know what to do next. Our Road to Business workshop is the perfect introduction to the realities and practicalities of setting up and running your own business. The purpose of this course is to help you with understanding each stage of setting up a business and inform you of your responsibilities. This will help you to understand the business start up process and help you to make an informed decision as to whether running a business is the right thing for you. In this full day workshop one of our professional business advisers will take you through the range of topics below:
• Is running a business the right thing for you?
• The importance of business planning
• How to structure the business
• Where will you trade from? (home vs. trading premises)
• Tax, National Insurance and VAT.
• Risks to the business (insurance requirements).
• Marketing basics
• Bookkeeping basics
• Where to get further advice
• Funding your business idea

Road to Business Day 2 and 3
The second and third day of Road to Business is the perfect progression from day one as it will build on the topics introduced to you in far greater detail. The course is delivered over two days across two weeks and each day will target a specific topic.
Road to Business Day 2 focuses on getting the financials for your business right; once you have an understanding of this it will enable you to plan your business more effectively. The topics covered include:
• How to price
• Breakeven
• Image
• Action plan
• Survival budget
• Income and expenditure
• Cash flow
• Terms and conditions
Road to Business Day 3 looks at developing a strong marketing plan for your business allowing you to develop a strategy to communicate with potential customers, attract new customers and communicate effectively with existing customers. The topics covered include:
• Social media
• Importance of a website
• Getting the message out
• Marketing
• PR
• Networking
• Selling
Day 2 and 3 of the Road to Business are charged at £25 per day
Individual Advice Sessions
Our team of professional business advisers are on hand to provide you with information, advice and support tailored specifically to your needs. They will help guide you through all aspects of business start up, provide a good sounding board, set milestones and targets to help you achieve your goals, point you in the right direction for continued support and above all else provide you with reassurance and confidence.
